Writhlington Business and Enterprise school Testimonial

Writhlington Business and Enterprise School and Applied Learning Centre opened its new school building in September 2010 to its 1200+ students, aged between 11 and 18. Located at the edge of Bath, the school provides a challenging and balanced education enriched by a programme of business and entrepreneurial experiences in every subject.

The school is committed to providing a dynamic and stimulating environment for its students and recognises that ICT enables staff and students to learn in different and exciting ways. Every student in the school has access to a laptop for their coursework.

As a Wider Leadership Team, we recognised that we needed to embed ICT into each class and present new ways of delivering the curriculum in order to motivate and engage our students. We began to look at partners that we felt would be able to deliver our strategy and school ethos and chose NAEC as a best fit.

NAEC have been working with the school now since 2009. In that time they have assessed our requirements, in line with our strategy; delivered a CPD programme that has addressed our ongoing aim to embed ICT across all subjects; and mapped out our future direction to fully embrace ICT through staff, students and the curriculum.

As a team, NAEC has brought many years of teaching and clientside experience, and tailored a programme for the staff that has a clear direction. It is relevant to them and their students; and they feel motivated by the results that embedding ICT into a class can have.

I have enjoyed the journey over the past year with NAEC and look forward to a continued successful partnership in the years to come.

St Paul’s Academy Testimonial

The Academy was created in September 2005 following the closure of the Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Secondary School. For the first 5 years of its life, it was based in the Victorian buildings that were the site of the former school.

Embedding ICT into this site was challenging, but we were clear in our strategy that we wanted staff and students to embrace ICT into the curriculum before we made the move to the new building.

Working with NAEC, we agreed a medium and long term ICT strategy that would be initially developed and deployed within the old building and migrate over to the new Academy. NAEC then conducted detailed audits to show us the level of development required and put together comprehensive CPD programs that have carried us through to our new surroundings.

ICT is embedded across the Academy, and all of our students have access to different technology across the curriculum during the Academy day.

Staff have a CPD program in place that helps to develop their approach to ICT across their subject areas, and we encourage the sharing of good practices across classes and year groups.

We continue to work with NAEC, whose work with the Senior Leadership Team has taken our ICT vision and made it a reality and has built staff competence and confidence through their tailored programs.
